Coral Reef Snorkeling
The Togean Islands are frequently mentioned as containing all four coral reef types (patch, fringing, barrier and atoll reefs) in close proximity. It is located in the Coral Triangle, an area with extraordinary levels of marine biodiversity. There are at least 596 reef fish species in the waters around the archipelago. According to Conservation International Indonesia data, the islands provide a home to 315 coral species.

Visit a bajo (sea-gipsy) village
There is a large Bajo community in the Togean Islands. They were originally wanderers, living on their boats all year round and developing special fishing techniques. They have been forced to settle in villages by the Indonesian government.
Pulau Papan is one of the many Bajo villages of the Togean Islands. Don't miss the 1-kilometer long wooden bridge connecting Malenge to Pulau Papan, which school children tread upon every morning to go to school.
The tarsier is the smallest primate in the world. It's an endangered species that you won’t see everywhere: extant tarsiers can only be found on some Asian islands including the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Lia Beach is the only Togean resort where you can see tarsiers, if you're lucky!
The coconut crab is a huge crab that can weigh up to 5 kilos. He mostly eats coconuts, which he drills with his powerful pincers.
Watch your fingers when you approach them!
Coconut crabs are endangered, yet still widely eaten by locals in the archipelago. They are extremely difficult to spot, but we're always happy to give it a try... and sometimes we get lucky!
Explore the islands
The Togean archipelago is a vast area with stunning reefs, crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, verdant mangrove, luxuriant tropical forest and traditional fishermen villages.
A beautiful universe for you to explore.

White sandy beach
At Lia Beach, the sand on the seafront is white, very white. Not all Togean beaches are lucky enough to have such white sand, that makes it almost looks like flour!
Our little front-island
Enjoy our very scenic beach view, with the cute tiny little island in the front. This small rock, proudly standing on the water with its only tree, has a name: it's been called Ahmadu, after the name of the first owner of Lia Beach.
Exclusive bamboo bungalows
Enjoy the comfort, architecture and style of our 2 bamboo bungalows built in a continuous respect of nature.
Bamboo is available locally in great quantity, highly renewable, absorbs a lot of CO2 in the atmosphere and allows to save trees of the tropical forest.
We've also used drift wood, plastic trash, local timber, sago leaves, rattan and local stones as construction materials.
Dining / chill-out area
We are happy to welcome you in our cozy feet-in-the-sand amenities. For now, Lia Beach dining area and lounge sit on the sand, sheltered by wooden/leaves gazebos.
We also provide bean bags and hammocks for you to chill out or enjoy a sunbath.
Scenic view from the hill
Lia Beach is bay-shaped surrounded on both sides by rocky hills. From the top of the shortest one, get a beautiful view on the Togean crystal-clear waters, and enjoy the sunset.
Our beach is yours!
Get a taste of the Robinson Crusoe magic: just you and - at most - two other guests on the beach! Freely enjoy our beach and our beautiful view, sitting on our beach bean bags or laying down in your hammock. That's one of the Togean most popular sports.
Lean back and relax, it's your holiday!
And for the sportiest, we have a frisbee and a football, so you can treat yourself with a beach sport session before enjoying a good swim in the sea.
