The Togean Islands are not connected yet to the municipal electricity network, so most people use generators.
As a result, electricity is only used at night in most villages.
And so it goes at Lia Beach: we also have a generator. We switch it on at 05:30 pm and switch it off at latest at 11 pm.
Since we are located 30 km South of the equator, we don’t have a tropical climate per say with a dry season and a rainy season (like in other parts of Indonesia or in Thailand for example). It is sunny here all year round, and even if we do have rain (sometimes heavy showers), there is always a few sunny hours a day, which is ideal for solar energy.
Getting solar panels is part of our plan: since it is quite a big investment, we will equip our buildings as we go along.
