Ampana airport finally open!
We had been waiting for it for years… The Ampana airport officially opened on April 2, 2015.
The journey to the Togean Islands can now be a little shorter. Don’t jump for joy, you won’t be able yet to fly from abroad nor from major Indonesian cities, but having an airport in Ampana can save you the hassle of bumpy roads and endless bus/car trips. Aviastar is the only airline serving Ampana, in small 19-seat airplanes with propellers. Rumor says Garuda Indonesia wants to jump in.

Boat connection to the Togean Islands
Unfortunately, the Aviastar flights are not connecting to the public boats and ferries going to the Togean Islands (see the Directions page to check the boat schedule). If you’re lucky, you might touchdown Ampana early enough on Thursday morning (flying from Gorontalo) to take the ferry to Wakai at 10:00 am.
If not, you will have to spend one or two nights in Ampana.
