High season 2016: love was in the air
It’s been an incredible first bamboo high season!
After completing the construction of our bamboo bungalows, we re-opened on July 1st and got our first guests on the 9th: thanks again to French family Pauline, Anne and Mali for being the first ones trying out our bamboo bungalows 🙂
A successful season
The rest of July got increasingly busy, and what happened to us in August was incredible: reservations kept coming in, and more and more guests showed up looking for a room. With only 5 double rooms for rent (2 bungalows and 3 standard rooms), we welcomed up to 19 guests at once! Some were sleeping in our tents, some other brought their own tents and hammocks, and we even had to host a few people in a staff room!
It seems like the word of mouth worked very well, both on the internet and among Sulawesi travelers!
Sharing loving guests: you rock!
We are so happy that Lia Beach inspired so many travelers in such a short time and are very thankful for their trust in us. How rewarding to receive so much interest after all the hassles we went through during construction.
But that’s not it. Something more happened: something that was totally unpredictable, something that went far beyond our expectations…
Most of our guests came to us with the will to share: skills, experience, time, games, fun, stories, music, laughs and so much more. Their motivations were more about giving and sharing than purely consuming.
We had workshops going on at every corner, on the initiative of our guests: gardening, making of signs, designing and building a bamboo raft and a bamboo barbecue, making furnitures and decoration items, creating games, cooking, playing music, giving yoga lessons and life coaching sessions!
We spent many great moments at night, around bonefires, dancing on the beach, and watching the million Togean stars.
Everyone got along so well, as if we all had known each other for a long time.
A very special thanks to our team, who worked non-stop all summer to provide the best service to our guest. It’s not always easy to find serious and dedicated employees, so we’re very happy to have found them!
The Lia Beach family is growing
There’s what we bring to our place as owners, the way we created it and the way we manage it, but the spirit our guests brought to us this high season 2016 is what made the difference.
Lia Beach wouldn’t be Lia Beach without all of you: it has become some kind of collective project, where everyone is involved with care, passion and love. That can’t help reminding us how Lia Beach actually got brought back to life last winter, thanks to the generosity of our crowdfunders.
Thank you all for giving out such a huge dose of love and encouragements, we needed it so bad! It feels like we’re growing a real family!
We are so grateful for the generous, caring, helping people we’ve had around. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of you dear guests, for designing, each in your own special way, the Lia Beach you were looking for. It turns out it has become exactly what we wanted it to be: a simple place where people feel like home. Travelers from all over the world: keep coming and sharing with us!
